Free will be "decisive" in a solution on the left

The spokesperson for Livre defended this Monday that the party will be “decisive” in a possible government solution on the left, claiming that it will be able to give “proposals for a route and show the path that can be taken”. “Here, the one who gives the proposals for routes and shows the path that can be taken is Livre”, stated Rui Tavares at the end of a bus trip between Pontinha and Arco do Cego, in Lisbon, to warn about mobility problems.
In a message that has been common in this election campaign, Rui Tavares stressed that Livre has been very clear from the beginning in defending an alternative form of government on the left so that the president of the PSD, Luís Montenegro, does not continue in the role of prime minister. And, to do so, he understood, the left must mobilize people and clearly state what it is here for.
In his opinion, parties need to take a stand, something that Livre has done by saying that it is capable of performing executive functions. On the ninth day of the election campaign, Rui Tavares argued that Livre will be decisive in providing an alternative to the left, which is why it is important for it to stay ahead or compete for fourth place with Iniciativa Liberal (IL).
Rui Tavares considered that, in this regard, the right is pragmatic and takes on this objective very directly. According to the leader of Livre, as May 18th approaches, it is very clear that there are two alternatives for governance: one of the Democratic Alliance (PSD/CDS-PP coalition) with IL and the other of progress and ecology. And he insisted on the idea that if the left has more deputies than AD and IL, there is an alternative for government.
The Livre spokesperson stressed that Livre's governing ethics and demands for a possible solution on the left will be “incomparable” to those of AD and IL, noting that IL only demands to have “a little chat” with AD to join their programs. Calling for the mobilization of the electorate on the left, Rui Tavares highlighted that the left is increasingly close to overcoming the right.
